How I Found a Solution For My Dogs Dry Skin and Shedding

Hello There VivBounty Here to share with you how I found a
solution to my dog, Pedro's dry skin and shedding.
Travelling with him through the Europe back to Canada,
we saw many veterinarians, each with their own opinon.
That was 3 years ago and he ran 1 mile 3 to 4 times a week, and
ate a cup of food, wet and dry mixed, twice a day. He's a mixed
breed of hunting dogs, like Podenco, Pointer and Husky which
are also working dogs. Hence his gorgeous markings. He
runs like a greyhound and absolutely loves the snow as much
as he loves a sandy beach.

When we finally settled in New Brunswick, we were invited
to a family wedding 1,000 miles away in November. We needed
to decide whether we wanted to drive with Pedro in this cold
season or fly without him. He has never been boarded to we
began interviewing dog boarding kennels in our area.
I found NightDrifter kennels which has now evolved
into Club Canine by NightDrifter in the Yellow Pages and
immediately went to their Web site and phoned for an
interview.

Speaking to Isabelle Hoeg immediately allayed my concerns.
Visiting the boarding kennels with Pedro, watching him
respond to Isabelle and Jason, tail wagging, happily
checking out the facility convinced me that we had found
our "hotel Woo woo", as my sister calls it.

After many stressfull nail trimming experiences with a
different vet or groomer in each country, imagine my
excitement to find out Isabelle and Jason make a great dog
nail trimming team. They have great energy, get to know the
dog, calm him gently before and during the quick nail trim
and even gave him a rawhide treat after trimming his nails.

We did not attend the wedding out of province eventually,
so did not need to board our dog, Pedro, but Isabelle and
Jason of Club Canine do trim his nails each month. About 16
months ago, Isabelle noticed Pedro was gaining weight. He
didn't have a waistline, and she would know as she breeds and
shows dogs. She recommended we put him on a lower calorie
diet which we did and he steadily lost weight.

Then about 4 months ago, at our dog nail trimming visit,
Isabelle noticed that Pedro's skin was very dry, flaking
and he was shedding quite a bit. One vet once told us that
Pedro is just the sort of mixed breed dog which will always
shed a lot. He also advised me not to bathe him more often
than once a month. He has always been a shedder, but never
had this excessively, dry, flaking skin.

Isabelle's suggestion was to do some research into omega 3
essential oils and always treat internally not rub any oils
onto his skin as his fur would get gunky.

I returned home to find an e-mail from her with information
she had gathered on cod liver oil. I in turn did some more
research including consulting with my pharmacist, who agreed
whole heartedly that cod liver oil would not only be good for
our dog, but for us as well.

I am happy to report that we have been taking cod liver oil
capsules from our pharmacy as a dietary supplement daily
and we are all feeling great, especially Pedro who no
longer has dry, flaking skin and is not shedding nearly as
much as he once did. Our vacuum cleaner is happy too.

I am so happy I found Club Canine and Isabelle Hoeg who
keeps a close eye on Pedro, just because she cares. Thanks
Isabelle for finally saving us from the tumble fur that has
decorated our home for over 6 years and improving Pedro's
health without costing us a fortune.
